With all of the tools available today, it is hard to determine what fits best in a classroom. In many instances, I feel it depends on the comfort level of the teacher. I use Edmodo as a tool to help me as a teacher rather than allowing my students to use it. This year is the first year I have used Edmodo. I am still not as comfortable as I would like to be with its features and navigation. However, I have found many ideas from other educators which I have used in my classroom. Specifically, I like the fact I can join a math community and discuss only math related topics since this is what I teach. I don't have to search and scroll through a lot of fluff to find things that are useful to me. Hopefully, after Christmas, I plan to start allowing my students to do some things on Edmodo. My initial plan is to upload assignments and have students complete them online as opposed to writing everything on paper. I would love to have advice from others who are familiar with Edmodo about the most efficient way to use the tool.
Google Docs is amazing! I use Google Docs daily in my classroom. I store all of my files in Google Docs. I also use the notebook form to create myjournal questions each day for my students. Many of the teachers in my school are catching on to using Google Docs instead of emailing. Our third grade team uses this feature for storage of our grade level minutes and other important documents. By doing this, we can simply add it each week. Also, everyone has access to this without having to deal with it being emailed.
I enjoy having my students create their presentations in Google Docs also!
